A smile for good friends or #postausmeinerküche

We all know the moment. The unexpected ringing of the door bell. The postman in front of the door. Handing over a small parcel with a broad smile. You wonder what you had ordered... Brimming with excitement you untie the ribbon and unwrap the paper – to reveal a delicious surprise sent by a loved one!

We love that kind of surprise and would like to inspire you to create more of these moments. That's just what we did during the #postausmeinerküche promotion where we created delicious treats for special occasions and based on various topics, wrapped them elaborately and sent them all over Germany.

An occasion for a surprise package isn't hard to find at all. The onset of spring, the first berries, a rediscovered recipe whose result is easy to send by post. Or challenging times such as these.

We believe that every new day is an invitation to make somebody happy. People we never or rarely have around. Or people we are not allowed to see for a while under the current restrictions. Food bonds people together, especially in times like these when a warm Hello from the kitchen is an even more heartfelt gesture.

What's closest to our hearts are obviously cocoa greetings. And partisanship aside they boost our Serotonin levels while we bake and nibble on them. Just the right tonic in times like these!

What you need to make that happen isn't that much, actually. An empty can for one thing (the BecksCocoa can actually seals airtight). A bit of creativity, if you fancy an individual design. Of course cocoa. And a handful of ingredients, lots of love and a mail parcel.

Our five cocoa-based recipes are perfect for sending by post, they are quick and easy to prepare and guarantee long-term happiness.

Now let's wield our cooking spoons and conjure up a few cocoa marvels. Here's our list:

Oat and cocoa happiness cookies

½ cup soft butter

½ cup brown cane sugar

1 egg

1 cup flour

1 tbsp BecksCocoa Criollo

½ tsp baking powder

1½ cups rolled oats

Mix all ingredients into a dough and leave to rest for approx. 1 hour.

Shape little balls out of the dough, place them well-spaced on a tray and bake for 10-15 minutes at 180°C.

Chocolate can cake

125g butter

50g sugar

2 eggs
150g flour

1 heaped tbsp BecksCocoa Sinerman Forte

½ tsp baking powder

½ glass milk

Whisk the butter with eggs and sugar into a very frothy mass. Mix flour, cocoa and baking powder and sprinkle on top of the butter mix with a sieve. Once done, add the milk and stir.

Grease two BecksCocoa cans liberally with oil or butter. Fill the cans with batter until 2/3 full and bake at 180°C for approx. 50 minutes. Leave to cool and seal with the lid.

Roasted cocoa nut mix

200g of your favourite nuts

1 tbsp olive oil

1-2 tsp BecksCocoa Dschindscha

a pinch of fleur de sel

Mix all ingredients thoroughly and roast for 10-15 minutes at 180°C.

Cocoa pesto with crispbread

60g chopped almonds or pine kernels

150g dried tomatoes

2 tbsp almond purée

20ml olive oil

1 tbsp BecksCocoa Chill Bill

Salt & pepper

Roast the almond chips/pine kernels lightly in a skillet and leave them to cool. Cut the tomatoes into coarse chops, add all ingredients in a food processor and grind them into a finely-grained pesto. Straight into little jars, spread some olive oil on top and seal well.

1 Teil Mehl (z. B. 1 Tasse)

1 Teil Haferflocken

2 Teile gemischte Samen
